School Lunch Requirements Change for 2012-2013 School Year Beginning with the2012-2013 school year, a new federal requirement to support better nutrition means all students who participate in school meals must choose at least one fruit or vegetable with each meal they take from the serving line. While many students already select a fruit and/or vegetable every day with their school meal, there are others who do not. Please talk to your student, and remind him or her to select a fruit and/or vegetable with their school lunch. We offer a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables every day to encourage them to find something they like.
The Healthy, Hungry Free Kids Act 2010 requires all students to take at least one serving of fruit or vegetable every day.
