IMPORTANT UPDATE: As of December, 2003, there have been new changes to the field trip requirements. These changes are not reflected here. Please check with your school office for the changes. We will try to add them to this webpage in the next couple of weeks.
2003-04 Guidelines for Student Trips:
(2) Student
trips will be allowed out of state on a case by case basis.
(3) Student
trips to major cities or major attractions will not be allowed (N.Y.,
(4) Student
trips that require public transportation will not be allowed. (Chartered busses are allowed. Examples of public transportation are boats,
planes, trains, etc.)
(5) Trips
will be approved on a case by case basis for students, teams, or groups who qualify for
school organization sponsored national or regional competition or for students, teams or
groups who are invited to participate in such a major event.
(6) Should
the state of alert in the U.S. increase to the highest level, all trips would be cancelled
except for trips to events sanctioned by the South Carolina High School League, South
Carolina Department of Education or a similar state organization, and then approved on a
case by case basis. (Examples of trips likely
to be approved are academic competitions, art competitions and athletic competitions held
at other school sites.) (7) Contractual arrangements for all trips must include provisions for a full refund should the district cancel the trip for any reason. Also, remember that Mr. Mike Anthony is the administrator approving all day field trips and is the administrator who will present overnight field trips to the Board.2003 Amended Guidelines Effective February 19 The following guidelines for student trips are in effect for the remainder of this school year: 1. Student trips are allowed within the state of South Carolina. 2. Student trips will be allowed out-of-state up to 200 miles from the school. 3. Student trips to major cities or major attractions will not be allowed. (N.Y., Atlanta, Nashville, Washington, Orlando, Disney World, etc.) 4. Student trips that require public transportation will not be allowed. (Chartered busses are allowed. Examples of public transportation are boats, planes, trains, etc.) 5. Trips will be approved on a case-by-case basis for students, teams, or groups who qualify for school organization sponsored national or regional competition or for students, teams, or groups who are invited to participate in such a major event. 6. All field trips must be approved by the school and the district office. Complete this field trip form and get it approved no later than two weeks before the trip. All trips must be approved before any information, permission slips, or monies are given or taken up. |

When a field trip has been planned:

The EMS Lunchroom needs a notification form no later than two weeks before a trip. Click here for Lunchroom Notification Form. 1. This form must be turned into the EMS cafeteria two weeks prior to the field trip. 2. All lunches must be prepaid. 3. Teachers must provide a cooler for milk or drinks. 4. Each homeroom teacher must provide a box for personal lunches from home. Students should bring well-marked bags and drinks. Disposable lunch bags make the trip much easier. 5. The team should copy and file this form in the Team Field Trip Information Folder to use as a reference at lunch during the trip. |
