Mrs. Ashley Gallman: Mrs. Gallman pushes her students to think deeply about mathematics. “I don’t know” isn’t the finish line in her room: it’s the starting point. Her students are analyzing, explaining, and confidently sharing their thinking with one another, and the growth is undeniable. She consistently keeps her class moving at a strong, steady pace while still making space for rich conversations and real learning.

Mrs. Avianna Means: We are excited to recognize this outstanding 1st-year teacher for her dedication and enthusiasm in the classroom. From day one, Mrs. Means has implemented HMH with fidelity, showing a strong commitment to high-quality instruction and best practices. Her lessons are thoughtfully planned, engaging, and—most importantly—fun, creating a positive learning environment where students are eager to participate and succeed. Mrs. Means' strong start and passion for teaching truly makes her deserving of the Teacher Spotlight recognition!

Foster Park Elementary School

Ms. Shakira Parks: At the start of the school year, Mrs. Parks expressed some uncertainty regarding how her students would adapt to the iReady curriculum. However, after implementing the program with fidelity, she observed a notable increase in student engagement, particularly when manipulatives and hands-on strategies were incorporated to support conceptual understanding. Through her consistent implementation, Ms. Parks has created a learning environment where students are actively participating, demonstrating greater confidence and showing enthusiasm for math. Her students are now consistently motivated and eager to learn math each day!

ELA

Mrs. Kayla Bishop: Mrs. Bishop pours so much love and energy into her kindergarten classroom each day! She works incredibly hard to make sure our tiny eagles feel safe, supported and excited about becoming readers. You can see her passion-whether she's celebrating small wins, getting excited about letter sounds or cheering on a student who finally cracks a tricky word. She brings phonics to life in such a fun, consistent way and her students absolutely thrive because of it! We are so grateful for the heart she brings to her students and our school!

Mrs. Jan Ivey: Mrs. Ivey is growing her students by leaps and bounds, using every opportunity to help them truly grasp new concepts. A true team player, she brings positivity to every conversation and always looks for what her struggling learners need most. Her dedication shows in her students’ confidence and success.

Mrs. Ashley Wells: Mrs. Wells is constantly seeking effective strategies and approaches to move her students forward in reading. She diligently researches and implements new methods to ensure her 5th graders receive the best instruction possible. Because of her dedication, her students are demonstrating impressive growth. Mrs. Wells’ positive attitude is contagious, and her students are beginning to reflect that same mindset in their own learning. She is truly making a difference!

Ms. Lori Roberts: Ms. Roberts is a veteran educator whose thoughtful and innovative approach to teaching continues to elevate student learning. With years of experience and a deep understanding of student needs, Ms. Roberts has embraced the i-Ready math curriculum with exceptional creativity and purpose.

Mrs. Amy Hughes: Mrs. Hughes pours her heart into helping students find joy in reading and writing every single day. She sets high expectations, and her students eagerly rise to meet them as they grow in confidence and skill. Her engaging lessons spark curiosity and make literacy learning fun and meaningful!

Mrs. Tanya Craig: Mrs. Tanya Craig is truly the queen of hands-on learning! Whether it’s Science or ELA, she brings lessons to life with creativity and excitement. She never complains, always gives her time to support JEMS in any way needed, and consistently chooses to see the positive in every situation. We are so grateful for her dedication, her heart, and the joy she brings to our school!

Sims Middle School

Mrs. Lakesha McKissick: Mrs. McKissick goes above and beyond advocating for her students. There is a student who needs physical stretches every day and to help the student feel included, Mrs. McKissick has made the stretches a part of the morning routine for all students.

Mr. Anthony Humphries: Mr. Humphries shows up every day ready to help our students — whether it’s in class, in the hallway, or after school. He’s dedicated to seeing each student succeed, and that dedication shows in the way he gives his time, support, and encouragement.

He doesn’t just teach — he shows up at after-school events to support our students, celebrates their victories, and is always willing to lend a helping hand whenever someone needs it.

Mrs. Ashley West: Mrs. West is chosen because of her exceptional dedication to student growth—both academically and personally. Now in her fifth year of teaching, she consistently goes above and beyond to support her students, offering not only high-quality instruction in Web Design and Image Editing but also a compassionate listening ear when they need it most. Her commitment to fostering real-world skills and a strong work ethic prepares students for success far beyond the classroom.
