4K and 5K staggered start image

Union County School District will implement a staggered start for all PreK and Kindergarten students for the upcoming 2025—2026 school year.

During the first five days of school, each student in PreK and Kindergarten will be assigned one day to attend. This approach helps ease the transition for our youngest learners by allowing them to adjust to new routines in a smaller, more personalized setting. It also provides teachers the opportunity to begin early assessments in small groups, helping them better understand and support each student's needs.

Each school will communicate directly with families to share your child's assigned day of attendance. Parents can expect to receive this information no later than July 25. Please note, this staggered start only applies to students in PreK and Kindergarten. All other grade levels will follow the regular schedule.

We appreciate your support as we work to make the start of school a positive experience for our youngest students. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's school or the district office.
