Our Sports Medicine 2 students recently completed hands-on labs focused on therapeutic exercises and the phases of cryotherapy. These activities allowed students to experience techniques used in rehabilitation while learning what future patients may experience during therapy.
By putting themselves in the patient’s shoes, students are building a deeper understanding of patient care, communication, and the rehabilitation process. This is what hands-on learning looks like—preparing students for careers where knowledge, compassion, and practical skills all come together!

Our Health Science and Sports Medicine students recently traveled to MUSC in Charleston for an incredible clinical exposure experience! With 49 students participating, they had the opportunity to explore healthcare in ways that brought their classroom learning to life.

Today was a momentous day for our students! 🎓⚙️
We are proud to celebrate two Work-Based Learning students who officially signed with Gestamp, beginning an exciting 16-week manufacturing rotation.
Both students, Anthony Perkins and Aydan Pridemore, are completers of our Machine Tool Technology program here at the Career Center, where they have developed valuable technical skills and gained hands-on experience to prepare them for the workforce.
A special shout-out goes to their instructor, Mr. Whelchel, who has been a valuable source of knowledge, guidance, and preparation for these students. His commitment to helping students develop the technical and professional skills needed for success has played an important role in preparing them for this next step.
Through their rotation with Gestamp, students will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the classroom in a real-world manufacturing environment, explore different areas of the industry, and continue developing the skills employers value.

Through The Bean Game, an activity adapted from 20 Bean Salary, students were given 20 beans to represent their income and challenged to divide them among different needs and wants. They quickly discovered that creating a budget requires thoughtful choices—and things became even more challenging when their “salary” was reduced from 20 beans to just 13!
This hands-on experience allowed students to see how income, priorities, and unexpected changes can impact a budget. Most importantly, their choices reflected their individual values, priorities, and attitudes about money.
These are the real-world financial skills that help prepare our students for life beyond high school!

After graduating from Furman University in 2000, he built a career in technology, specializing in learning and development, instructional design, eLearning development, and learning management since 2006.
Today, he brings that real-world experience into the classroom, teaching Fundamentals of Computing at the CATE Center and Discovering Computer Science Part II and Digital Literacy at Jonesville Middle School. 💻

Why did he choose education? Because he believes education can change the trajectory of a person’s life. His goal is to help students discover those opportunities and realize what is possible.

We are excited to introduce one of our wonderful educators as she begins her fourth year in education! With previous teaching experience in 5th and 6th grade, she brings a wealth of experience, compassion, and enthusiasm to the classroom. This year, she is excited to bring those qualities to our studnets as she teaches Personal Finance
She chose a career in education because she believes in the power of encouraging and inspiring young people, especially those who may be facing challenges while navigating the journey of growing up. Her own personal testimony of determination and perseverance motivates her to help students recognize their potential and believe in themselves.
Her philosophy is simple but powerful: “If I can reach a student first, I can teach them anything.” ❤️
When she isn't inspiring students, she enjoys traveling through her Wyndham and Westgate timeshare ownership and making new memories along the way. When it comes to sports, she is a true enthusiast—especially when cheering on her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys! 🏈⭐
