The UCHS JROTC Yellow Jacket Battalion, under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel James Ruzicka, proudly hosted its fourth annual Military Ball—an evening that exemplified tradition, professionalism, and camaraderie. This highly anticipated formal event, planned and attended by the cadets, reflects the skills and discipline they develop through their JROTC experience.

In preparation, all cadets participated in etiquette training, learning the proper protocols required for such a distinguished occasion. The evening featured a reception hour and formal receiving line, followed by the observance of time-honored military traditions. Guests enjoyed a formal dinner and an engaging program highlighted by guest speaker RJ Sanders, who delivered an inspiring message encouraging cadets to look confidently toward their future.

The program also included a moving performance of the National Anthem by Shon Morris, as well as the invocation and benediction offered by Reverend Brad Goodale. The evening concluded with a celebratory dance, allowing cadets and guests to enjoy the culmination of a memorable event.

Overall, the Military Ball was a tremendous success, with VIPs, guests, and cadets expressing sincere appreciation for an exceptional evening that honored tradition, leadership, and the bright future ahead for these young leaders.

Health Science students had the incredible opportunity to learn from guest speaker Cammy Canupp, who brings 16 years of real-world experience in the medical field.

Students explored important topics in female reproductive health care, including cervical cancer screenings, STIs, and even participated in a hands-on demonstration of how to properly administer insulin using an orange.

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where students asked thoughtful, in-depth questions about burnout in the medical profession, as well as the highs and lows of working in healthcare. Ms. Canupp also shared powerful firsthand stories that provided students with a deeper understanding of the realities of life in the field.

Experiences like this help bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals.

We would love to welcome more industry guest speakers to our classes! Just reach out if you would like to share your expertise with students.

Our Auto Technology students recently removed the cab of a truck in order to switch out the engine—an advanced, hands-on learning experience that gave them a true understanding of vehicle structure and design.

By lifting the cab off the frame, students were able to clearly access the engine and critical components beneath it. This process highlights how the truck’s frame serves as the foundation, supporting the drivetrain, suspension, and power systems. Removing the cab not only makes engine replacement more efficient, but it also allows students to see how every major system connects and works together.

Experiences like this go beyond textbooks.
